New dormitory at the VisPa orphanage

Back in May a number of volunteers took part in a 100k hike for VisPa over 3 days. Then in June another brave set of fundraisers cycled 60 miles in just a few hours, all to raise money for the building of a new dormitory at VisPa orphanage for the boys.

The total raised between the hike and the cycle was almost £11,000!

Every penny of this money was dedicated to the building of this dormitory as the previous one was no longer large enough to house all of the boys. This old dorm was a tin structure and we wanted to build a more solid and suitable place for the young boys to stay.

In August a team of 19 volunteers from Northern Ireland went to VisPa to visit and see how this work was progressing. I’m pleased to report that the work is almost complete! The dorm has two separate bedrooms, flushing toilets and a shower block attached, which is an absolute luxury for these young boys.

When we spoke to some of the boys their excitement and joy about moving into their new bedroom was so clear to see.

Thank you to each and every one who took part in either (or both!) of these events and made this build possible! All of the time spent organising, training and completing these events has certainly paid off. Thanks also to everyone who donated to this very worthy cause.
